1884 – Breitling is founded in the town of St-Imier, Switzerland. The founder, Leon Breitling, aimed at more than just making watches. His aim was to provide highly technical instruments – chronographs and timers – for professionals to help them do a better job.

1892 – Leon Breitling sets up shop in the beautiful Montbrillant building in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Breitling soon made a name for himself with his wide range of instruments for professionals, inventions, and patents.

1914 – Gaston Breitling takes over the company after Leon Breitling dies. Breitling was one of the first firms to offer a wristwatch chronograph.

1915 – Like father like son, Gaston created an independent-from-the-crown-push-piece able to handle start, stop, and reset functions. He later perfect the reset by using the crown.

1934 – Willy Breitling creates yet another innovation in watchmaking by introducing a second return-to-zero pushpiece. This invention was soon picked up by all competitors and it is still used in most watches today – Including our high end breitling knock off watches.

1936 – Royal Air Force commissions Breitling to supply them with instruments for aviation.

1942 – The launching of one of the most successful Breitling Watches ever, the Breitling Chronomat. The US Forces also become a Breitling’s client.

1952 – Another successful watch is added to the brand, the Breitling Navitimer wristwatch instrument equipped with a slide rule for handling all calculations called for by a flight plan quickly gaining popularity among pilots.

1962 – Breitling Cosmonaute chronograph is worn by Astronaut Scott Carpenter during his orbital flight aboard the Aurora 7 space capsule.

1969 – Breitling introduces yet another world innovation, the Breitling self-winding chronograph revolutionizing the watch industry.

Aviation Pioneers favor Breitling over other instruments during this critical time.

1979 – Ernest Schneider takes over Breitling continuing to honor the essence of the Brand. Schneider is a pilot himself and Breilting admirer.

1984 – Breitling Chronomat Tricolori is launched

1995 – Breitling unveils their Emergency collection

2003 – Breitling for Bentley partnership begins

2009 – Breitling B01 self-winding chronograph is launched
